About the prints
The Imagery in my prints focuses on the architecture of the ancient Mayan civilization and once great post industrial cities such as Buffalo NY. It also refers to a time when the Mayan civilization was being rediscovered by western civilization and was being brought to light through lithography and engraving. Consequently my hand pulled prints are rendered in a romantic style that emulates the way that Mayan ruins were portrayed in the early 1800s. This is a critical parallel between two separate cultures; in the early 1800s, while Buffalo was beginning to rise from the boreal forests of the northeastern United States, thousands of miles away in the dense tropical forests of the Yucatan men were rediscovering a civilization that has existed for over a millennia.
